Description
First aid refers to the essential and purposeful actions taken to protect another person’s or one’s own health and life, using available medical and/or other appropriate equipment and materials, until the injured person (patient) receives emergency professional medical care, their condition stabilises, or their death is confirmed. The main objectives of first aid are to preserve life, prevent the person’s condition from worsening and reduce the risk of complications, and support recovery. First aid is provided in accordance with Resolution No. 590 of the Government of the Republic of Lithuania of 14 May 2003, “On the Approval of the List of Professions, Jobs and Fields of Activity Whose Employees and Vehicle Drivers, Being Present with Injured or Ill Persons at the Scene of an Accident or Acute Life-Threatening Illness, Are Required to Provide First Aid, as well as on Determining the Competence of Other Persons Specified by Law in These Matters”, and Order No. V-450 of the Minister of Health of the Republic of Lithuania of 11 July 2003, “On the Competence of Healthcare and Pharmaceutical Professionals in Providing First Aid, First Aid Kits and First Aid Sets”.
